  • 10 easy ways to protect your business software from cyber attacks

    • Firewall is your friend. Close all unnecessary ports and open just what is needed (for example, port 443 for your website https)
    • Regularly update all your vendors software (e.g., Operating Systems) with latest patches (prefer to automate).
    • Use a complex password policy (e.g., minimum 15 length with special chars) across all your systems
    • Use a multi factor authentication (MFA) for all systems.
    • Always grant the least permissions necessary to get a job done. Have a time limit for these permissions.
    • In your application software, never trust user input data without sanitisation. If files are uploaded, use virus scanner on uploaded files before accepting. Scan all emails as well for virus and malware.
    • Don't hardcode passwords/credentials/security keys into source code. Don't check-in them into code repositories (such as git).
    • Create frequent backups of your critical data (e.g, daily backup), and have them copied to a different system away from your daily operations.
    • Use an efficient software to protect your staff computers and mobile end points.
    • Periodically train your company staff about cybersecurity and common threats that bad actors use.
